Best line from "Roger Dodger"
Roger: "What time is it?"
Nick: "Um, it's seven-oh-five..."
Roger: "Are you wearing a medic alert bracelet?"
Nick: "No, it's instructions. If I die I'm having my body cryogenically frozen, so..."
Roger: "...Okay, leave it on. That's just spastic enough to be charming."
Roger Dodger is far from a perfect movie, but it's one I'll eagerly watch whenever I happen upon it on cable. Campbell Scott rules.

I disliked Roger Dodger in the same way I disliked Laurel Canyon. It's just so "Ooooh, my film is soooooo independent. Look how hip I am- I mean this film is." A bunch of pseudo-clever lines strung together with just enough controversy to keep people thinking it's worthwhile. Like- Oh my, young kid in bar picking up women! Or in L.C. - Oh, some chick making out with her fiance's mom. Oh goodness me! Bleh. My Ex fell asleep in the theater watching Rodger Dodger and I didn't want to wake him up to leave. At least I saw it for free.
I would say that most of the "Oooh, aren't I clever" lines are said by Roger, and I think it's clear that the movie believes he's a blowhard. The moment Roger decides to take Nick out with him is when Nick confesses he's been getting close with his grandfather, Roger's dad, who Roger despises. Roger's just trying to get his nephew to think he's cool, despite everything we've seen of Roger's life pointing to the contrary. Buy Laurel Canyon does indeed suck. Although it is the only movie where Kate Beckinsale makes out with Fraces McDormand.
