Yesterday's movies, today's criticisms!

Why is the opening wedding scene in The Godfather so long? I mean, Brando's a gangster, his daughter's getting married, we GET IT. And there's that big scene with Luca Brasi, just so we feel bad when he gets killed later. Nice try, Coppola.

Yeah, that scene was actually my big hurdle to even be able to watch that movie. Now that I have seen it and love it, that scene tends to be my favorite part. Besides Michael killin' those dudes.

This afternoon I spent a chunk of my day off watching F/X. (Is THAT one subtitled "The Deadly Art of Illusion," or is that F/X 2?) I saw the sequel a million times when I was a kid, because it was on non-stop when we first got HBO, but I'd never seen the original.

Guess who Dennehy's C.O. is! Gordon! From Sesame Street!

"The Deadly Art of Illusion" is the 2nd one. The first is just "F/X".
