President's Day is for getting shit DONE
Today Frank and I watched six episodes of Angel and three episodes of The Wire, with a break for dinner and the occasional conversation in between episodes.
I've now finally seen every single Angel episode! God, season 4 is AWESOME.
I suppose I should feel bad about being a lump all day, but I just can't bring myself to do so. It's my vacation!

Man, I love season 4. Love it. It's why I could never fully endorse season 5, which had some good episodes, but nothing compared to the ARC. Oh, the sweet beautiful complicated ARC. And world peace! They ended world peace!
Season 4 blah blah great. That was me in 2003. *g*
I think it's not too much of a spoiler to tell you that you have not seen the last of Conner. He is featured prominently in one of season 5's best episodes. That same episode wraps up a dangling plot point from season 3; it's like a handjob for continuity enthusiasts.
Jenni, please refrain from making any jokes just because I said "handjob."
I actually just watched the Joss Whedon commentary for season 4 episode "Spin the Bottle" and when Amy Acker shows up in the credits he says "Amy Acker... ugly, ugly girl. Very homely," because he is a funny guy.
What was I talking about? Right, season 5 vs. season 4. Yes, season 4 has probably the best single arc, but season 5 has so many riches! And it's own, subtler arc, that really kicks into high gear from "A Hole in the World" on. But I won't talk about it in more detail because Jenni hasn't seen season 5 yet. Jenni, go find season 5 IMMEDIATELY. It just came out. Go!
Yeah, definitely see season 4 again. I had never seen the first 8 episodes and they go a long way to explaining things that had kind of always bugged me, like how annoying Conner is as season 4 goes on and why Fred and Gunn's relationship desintegrates (the Fred-centric episode "Supersymmetry" is totally awesome). And they do a really nice job of reintegrating Wesley into the cast.
(SEASON 5 SPOILER AHEAD!)
Frank made the great observation that Wesley and Fred could only get together in Season 5 because Wesley forgets everything horrible he did in seasons 3 and 4. He had just become too damaged a person for it to happen without some reality manipulation.
