Emory and I got our security deposit back from the old place. I swear it's more than what we actually paid as a security deposit. I see that several repairs were deducted, which is fine, since we lived there a long time and also left the place in a bit of a state, but I have no idea how the amount of money wound up being so high. Is there some sort of arcane renter's math that I'm not noticing? Naturally, I won't be investigating this more thoroughly.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you guys have to add an additional amont to your deposit when you got the cats? Also, they gave us back a pretty decent sum as well. I think they are pretty happy when you don't tear down walls or leave crack everywhere, so they get pretty generous.
YEEEE-HAW! PUT ON THE KETTLE, PAW! WE'RE EATIN GOOD TONIGHT!
This means Emory can get that new DVD rack which means we can put away all those DVDs that are taking up 75% of our floor space!
