I can see what you're saying about Dempsey, but I also feel like our positions as heterosexual men may not have granted us the templates best suited for evaluating the guy's attractiveness.
This is kind of like all the straight women I knew who spent the mid-nineties observing that Gillian Anderson was not actually very good-looking, and how it was a funny detail of her series that she was paired with an Adonis like David Duchovny. I, on the other hand, always thought of David Duchovny as a sort of long-dosed, dour-faced scarecrow of a man, and always had come away with the opposite impression of their pairing. (I can't imagine I was alone, since McKenna spent the Emmys last week muttering, "God she's hot," every time Gillian Anderson appeared on the TV.)
In this instance I'm just going to have to defer to Lindsay and my sister and my mom. And, you know, apparently the majority of American television viewers. And also Dempsey's twenty-year career. I mean, casting directors couldn't have thought he was ugly when they cast him in "Loverboy" and "In the Mood."
I guess what I'm really wondering is, what about Dempsey's so threatening to YOU that you have to vocally tear him down every time we pass a Grey's Anatomy billboard? Because seriously it's all you talk about.
Becuase he's all that AMERICA can talk about, Frank! Everywhere I go, the ladies swoon for Dempsey. In fact, just yesterday I received my Entertainment Weekly, and who should be gracing the cover??? I'll shut up about Dempsey probably once the new Grey season starts and they take down all those billboards. And if you don't like me talking about him, maybe you shouldn't laugh like a hyena whenever I bring him up. Attention only encourages me.
He's not bad. Not on my favorites list, but attractive enough. I never watch the show, so maybe I'd feel different if I did.
I mean, Jim from the office is NOT my type at all, but I can't help having a big crush on him. Really the other young guy in The Office is better looking, but I don't get that same feeling about him.

I'll concede his hotness, but that show is dogshit.
